Cyprus offers multiple routes for entry and residence, each with its own requirements, procedures, and consequences. The legal framework derives from the Aliens and Immigration Law, the Free Movement of Persons Law, and various regulations implementing EU directives on family reunification, long-term residence, and the rights of third-country nationals.

For EU nationals and their family members, residence in Cyprus is a right, but it is not automatic. Those staying longer than three months must register with the Civil Registry and Migration Department, obtaining a registration certificate that confirms their right of residence. The firm assists with these applications, ensuring that the required documentation proof of employment, self-sufficiency, or study is properly prepared and submitted.

For non-EU nationals, the routes are more varied and more restrictive. Employment permits require a job offer and, in most cases, a labour market test demonstrating that no suitable Cypriot or EU candidate is available. The firm advises employers on the sponsorship obligations that accompany work permits, and advises employees on their rights and the conditions attached to their status.

The Cyprus Digital Nomad Visa, introduced in response to the growth of remote work, allows non-EU nationals to reside in Cyprus while working for employers outside the country. The visa is initially valid for one year, with the possibility of renewal. Applicants must demonstrate sufficient income, remote work capability, and health insurance. The firm handles applications under this scheme, which has proven popular and is subject to annual quotas.

Family reunification is governed by both EU law and national rules. Spouses, minor children, and, in some cases, dependent parents of a resident may be entitled to join them in Cyprus. The process requires proof of relationship, adequate accommodation, and sufficient resources. The firm guides families through these applications, which can be emotionally charged and procedurally complex.

For investors, Cyprus offers a permanent residency programme. Applicants must acquire property of a specified minimum value and demonstrate secure annual income from abroad. The programme does not permit employment in Cyprus but allows for self-employment and business ownership. The firm advises investors on the property requirements, the application process, and the ongoing obligations attached to permanent residence.

Cypriot citizenship is available through naturalisation after seven years of residence, or through marriage to a Cypriot citizen after three years of marriage and residence. The process involves language and history tests, good character requirements, and detailed documentation of residence and integration. The firm assists with citizenship applications, including the preparation of evidence and representation before the authorities.
